What an amazing gem of a place George and Carol Cowie have created in such an idyllic and serene location, and so close to The Dartmoor National Park. The location lends its self to walking, cycling or just soaking up the peace and tranquillity of Devon. If you feel the need to go shopping, or are on the lookout for night life, the charming and exciting city of Exeter is only a short drive away.
However we are confident, that when you return from your chosen activity, as we have done on several occasions, you won’t find a better welcome in a pub, restaurant, or hotel giving off such a warm, friendly and homely atmosphere. The inn is full of character and the bedrooms are spacious, luxurious and comfortable. If you return in late afternoon there’s absolutely no need for you to go out again, since there is a vast choice of wine, beer or spirits in a well stocked cellar and bar, within seconds of your room. The restaurant menu has an amazing choice of starters, mains and puddings that you could die for! We always prefer to eat in the bar area where we can tune into and briefly become part of the local rural Devonian way of life. And in the extremely unlikely event that there is no one about to talk to, you can try to strike up a lively conversation with "The Captain" at the bar.
If you are visiting the Devon area, don’t miss out on a chance to stay at the New Inn, but do book early to avoid disappointment.
